Description

“Witnesses of the Resurrection” is a reader’s theater Easter drama for adults built around overlapping testimonies. A Narrator guides the congregation through the hours surrounding the empty tomb while multiple witnesses step forward to speak directly to the audience: Mary Magdalene, other women who came with spices, a Roman soldier assigned to the tomb, a follower who remained near the cross, leaders involved in the burial, and a former skeptic who challenges the claims. Their accounts are not identical in emotion or emphasis, reflecting how people process the same life-altering event differently.

Scripture is woven throughout as short readings that ground each witness in the Gospel record and the early church’s confession. The story moves from Friday’s grief to Sunday’s shock, from questions to encounter, from fear to courage. The conclusion gathers all voices together to declare the shared reality: Easter is not rumor, it is testimony. The final moment is meant to feel like a courtroom and a worship service at once, witnesses standing side by side, united by the truth that Jesus Christ is risen.

Easter is not rumor, it is testimony.
