“Thy Name” is a 20-minute youth drama-comedy built around the Lord’s Prayer line: “Hallowed be Thy name.” While preparing for worship, three young actors casually—and sometimes jokingly—use God’s name without realizing what it communicates. A wiser friend helps them understand that the name of Jesus deserves reverence, not because God is fragile, but because His name is holy and our worship includes both our words and our choices. The skit ends with practical, relatable ways to honor God’s name in daily life.
THY NAME (Approx. 3,000 words | 20 minutes)
Cast (3–5 actors):
-
NIA – energetic, creative, uses trendy phrases and “reaction words,” means well but is careless
-
JORDAN – witty, sarcastic, “I’m just joking” style, quick to dismiss seriousness
-
TREY – worship-night stage manager / organizer, stressed, responsible, wants excellence
-
MALIK – wiser friend / youth leader, calm, warm, firm without being harsh
-
Optional: DIRECTOR/PASTOR VOICE (offstage only, can be read by Malik or Trey)
Length: 20 minutes
Setting: Church stage or rehearsal room before a youth worship night.
Props: Clipboard/run sheet, microphone (real or pretend), phone, water bottle, a small “WORSHIP NIGHT” sign, optional small Bible, optional gaffer tape roll.
Tone: Engaging, youth-realistic, with clean humor that never mocks Jesus. Humor comes from misunderstandings, rehearsal chaos, and human reactions—not from disrespecting God.
