The Women Who Went Early is a full-length Easter drama that follows Mary Magdalene and the women who went to Jesus’ tomb at dawn on Resurrection morning. The story begins in grief and uncertainty, showing how each woman processes loss differently—through fear, doubt, questions, and quiet determination. As they walk toward the tomb, the play highlights faith in motion: they don’t go because they feel brave, they go because love won’t let them stay away.
When they arrive and find the tomb empty, panic and confusion break open the moment—until a messenger speaks the resurrection truth plainly. The women struggle to process joy after sorrow, and Mary Magdalene steps forward as the first witness, realizing God often entrusts the greatest news to unexpected people. The final movement of the drama centers on courage: choosing to speak what is true even when others may not believe them. The women leave together, not just comforted—commissioned.
