Summary 

“The Witnesses” is a 6–9 minute Easter readers-theatre style drama with meaningful, clean humor. Mary Magdalene, Thomas, and the disciples give first-person “testimony” about encountering the risen Jesus—and how the Holy Spirit turned fear into courage. The play ends by reminding the congregation that believers today are also witnesses of the risen Christ.

• NARRATOR (steady, warm; ties scenes together)

• MARY MAGDALENE (urgent, sincere; joyful shock)

• THOMAS (honest skeptic; not rude—careful and wounded)

• PETER (bold, then humbled; relatable)

• JOHN (observant, tender; “details guy”)

• DISCIPLE 1 (comic relief, but respectful)

• DISCIPLE 2 (comic relief, respectful)

• Optional: DISCIPLE 3 (adds group energy)

• Optional: ANGEL / MESSENGER (one scene; can be offstage voice)

Setting: Minimal stage. A bench/chairs for “upper room.” One side becomes “garden/tomb.” No large props needed.
