The Wise Man Who Bought the Wrong Gift is a 15-minute Christmas comedy skit for a small cast of 3 actors, perfect for churches, senior groups, Sunday school, or Christmas programs that want both laughter and a meaningful message.
This downloadable PDF script follows three wise men on their journey to meet the newborn King. While two of them bring the traditional gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh, the third well-meaning wise man completely misunderstands his assignment. Instead of a precious offering, he proudly presents a “royal gift basket” stuffed with socks, peppermint candy, and even a coupon for a free camel wash next year. His companions are horrified, and hilarity unfolds as he explains how an epic series of marketplace mix-ups led to his very untraditional gift.
Yet, beneath the humor, the skit gently shifts into a heartfelt moment at the stable. When the wise man nervously offers his “wrong” gift to baby Jesus and apologizes, the message becomes clear: God looks at the heart more than the wrapping. The skit closes with the wise men realizing that the true meaning of Christmas isn’t about perfect gifts, but about a sincere, willing heart turned toward Christ.
