Description

Summary

Israel’s army is terrified because a giant warrior named Goliath keeps mocking them and daring anyone to fight. Day after day, the soldiers freeze in fear and feel like they have no chance.

A young shepherd named David arrives with lunch for his brothers and hears the taunts. Instead of focusing on Goliath’s size, David remembers how God helped him before and chooses courage. The children learn that real confidence comes from trusting God’s Spirit, not their own strength.

Theme

Courage and faith: trusting God (and the Holy Spirit’s help) when fear feels bigger than you.

Characters

(5-7 actors)

  • Narrator – Guides the story and sets the scene

  • David – A young shepherd with big faith in God

  • Goliath – A loud, proud giant who mocks God’s people

  • King Saul – Israel’s worried king who tries to help David

  • Eliab – David’s older brother who doubts and scolds him

  • Israelite Soldier – A scared soldier who represents the fearful crowd

When

Biblical times (the days of King Saul)

Props & Costumes

  • Cardboard shield (for Goliath)

  • Toy sword or cardboard sword

  • Simple robe or sash (for King Saul)

  • A small bag or pouch (for stones)

  • A sling substitute (a cloth strip)

Why

“For the battle is the Lord’s.” (1 Samuel 17:47)
This verse reminds us that victory doesn’t come from being the biggest or strongest. God fights for His people, and He gives courage through His Spirit when we feel afraid.

How

A simple stage: one side is the Israelite camp, the other side is where Goliath stands. The middle is the “valley.” Characters can step forward to show who is speaking.
