WHAT
A playful Christmas skit about a little ornament that keeps falling off the church Christmas tree. The children think it’s being silly, stubborn, or “dramatic,” but the truth comes out: the ornament is scared it will be overlooked beside the shinier, fancier decorations. Through humor, teamwork, and a sweet reminder of humility and the true meaning of Christmas, the kids help the ornament find its confidence and purpose.
THEME
You don’t have to be the brightest ornament on the tree to shine for God.
WHO
Child 1 – older, practical, thinks they know how to fix EVERYTHING
Child 2 – young, energetic, tries creative (and messy) solutions
Child 3 – thoughtful, gentle helper
Narrator or Ornament Voice – explains the ornament’s feelings
Optional:
Director Child or Tree Helper
HOW
The ornament is held by a child or placed on the floor. Whenever it is hung on the branch, it dramatically “falls,” producing laughter. The narrator or a child speaking for the ornament reveals its insecurity. The skit ends with the ornament finally staying on the tree as the children celebrate Jesus.
PROPS
Ornament, tree branch (fake or real), string or ribbon, tape, glue bottle (empty), and a “string cheese” prop for silly effect.
TIME
~5 minutes
