The Holiday Season “Overachievers Anonymous” Meeting

This ensemble comedy skit takes place in a church support-group–style meeting for people who take the Christmas season way too seriously. Led by a calm facilitator named Grace, each attendee dramatically confesses their over-the-top holiday habits: hand-embroidered stockings, hyper-organized Christmas playlists, gingerbread mansions, excessive special effects in church services, and even pets turned into “walking centerpieces.” The group laughs at how far they’ve gone in the name of “Christmas spirit,” while slowly realizing that their hearts are exhausted and their families might be too.

The turning point comes when a quiet attendee, Hannah, shares that the best thing she did all season wasn’t a big production at all—it was reading the biblical Christmas story with her family and talking about it together. The room falls silent as everyone recognizes how their obsession with perfection has distracted them from the heart of Christmas. By the end, they all agree to scale back at least a little, choosing simple, Christ-centered moments over performance, while still keeping their sense of humor about how hard that will be.

Why

The skit points to Luke 10:41–42, where Jesus gently tells Martha that she is worried about many things, but only one thing is truly needed. It reminds us that while serving and planning can be good, we are invited to sit at Jesus’ feet, listen, and rest in His presence—especially at Christmas.
