This short play follows Mary and Joseph as they travel from the town of Nazareth to the town of David, Bethlehem, during the days of Caesar Augustus. With no room at the inn, they find shelter in a simple stable where the baby Jesus is born.
The angel of the Lord appears to the shepherds, and they go to worship Him, while the wise men follow the star to bring gifts. The entire story can be told in under five minutes, with simple narration and basic costumes made from robes or large T-shirts.
This traditional Christmas story works beautifully for 1st through 5th grade students or children’s church groups. It’s a wonderful way to remind audiences of the biblical narrative and the true meaning of Christmas.
