Description

WHAT
A lively, kid-friendly Christmas skit where different decorated Christmas trees audition for a holiday talent show. Each tree tries to shine with funny, exaggerated “talents”—singing off-key, telling terrible jokes, glowing too brightly, or quoting random historical facts. In the end, the “Little Star Tree,” the simplest tree of them all, is chosen because it wants to point people to Jesus. The story reminds children that Christmas isn’t about sparkle, talent, or flashiness—it's about honoring the Savior.

THEME
True greatness comes from pointing people toward Jesus, not toward ourselves.

WHO
Director – Cheerful, overwhelmed, trying to stay professional

Tree #1 – Sparkle Tree – Overly dramatic, obsessed with glitter

Tree #2 – Joke Tree – Loves telling terrible jokes

Tree #3 – History Tree – Recites facts no one asked for

Tree #4 – Singing Tree – Tries singing Christmas carols… badly

Tree #5 – Little Star Tree – Humble, soft-spoken, sincere (chosen at the end)

(You may use 4 or 5 actors depending on church size.)

HOW
Children stand behind tree cutouts or wear green T-shirts with ornaments taped on. The humor comes from their voices, personalities, and props. The director moves from “tree to tree,” evaluating auditions. No background set is required.

PROPS
Christmas tree cutouts or T-shirts, ornaments, glitter, microphone (toy), clipboard, star ornament.

TIME
~5 minutes
