Description

A 15-minute Christmas Comedy for Seniors

The Christmas Tree Debate is a warm, funny, and senior-friendly Christmas skit that turns a simple decorating activity into a meaningful reminder of unity in Christ. The story follows a small group of seniors as they gather to decorate a Christmas tree—but each arrives with their own passionate belief about what the decorations should represent. One insists ornaments symbolize angel halos, another argues the lights must point upward toward heaven, and a third proudly claims the tree represents the spreading of the Good News.

What begins as a playful disagreement quickly grows into a full-blown debate filled with gentle humor, relatable personalities, and charming misunderstandings. But when the tree unexpectedly topples over, the group finally pauses long enough to recognize the lesson hidden beneath all their traditions: despite their differing opinions, they all desire the same thing—to honor Jesus Christ at Christmas.

Cast: 4–5 Actors

Duration: 15 Minutes

Moral Lesson: Traditions may differ, but honoring Jesus in all we do brings unity and joy.

Bible Verse: “Let all things be done unto edifying.” — 1 Corinthians 14:26

Part 1: The Tree, the Traditions, and the Trouble

Setting:

A church fellowship hall arranged for a seniors’ Christmas decorating afternoon.

Center stage: a bare Christmas tree — artificial, slightly leaning, definitely older than anyone present.

Beside it: a plastic bin overflowing with ornaments (some broken, some handmade, some questionable).

Four chairs at random angles.

A sign on the wall reads: “Christmas Fellowship – Help Decorate the Tree!”
