Length: 15 Minutes | Cast: 6 Actors | Genre: Comedy with Heart
Theme: Sharing the Good News of Great Joy
Summary
In this funny and fast-paced 15-minute Christmas skit, the biggest story in history breaks like a modern news broadcast. An over-caffeinated anchor in the “Good News Network” studio keeps cutting to live reports from Bethlehem, where a field reporter interviews startled shepherds, dazzled wise men, and an overwhelmed innkeeper who “didn’t expect such a crowd in the land of Judah.”
As the night unfolds, breaking news alerts keep interrupting—first about a strange light in the sky, then about a choir of angels, and finally about “a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths” bringing peace and joy to the world.
With quick cuts, humorous misunderstandings, and heartfelt moments, the skit shows how ordinary people respond to extraordinary news—and invites the audience to consider how they’ll respond too.
Perfect for youth groups, church services, or family Christmas programs, this play balances fast-paced comedy with a clear gospel message: good news is meant to be shared.
Cast of Characters
Anchor JAY – Energetic news anchor at the “Good News Network.” Loves dramatic headlines and catchy phrases. Thinks in sound bites but has a sincere heart under the showmanship.

Shepherd LENA – A down-to-earth, practical shepherd. Still stunned by the angel visit and not used to being on camera.
Shepherd EZRA – Younger, more excitable shepherd. Leans into the drama of the night, very enthusiastic.
Wise Man CYRUS – A thoughtful scholar from the East. Speaks with calm wisdom but gets confused by “breaking news” culture.
Innkeeper MIRA – Stressed but kind innkeeper. Exhausted from the crowds, surprised that her stable has become the center of the story.
