WHAT

The Bethlehem News Network (BNN) goes live for a special Christmas broadcast—but everything goes hilariously wrong. The anchors struggle to keep the show professional while juggling breaking updates, confused field reporters, interviews with shepherds, talking animals (or at least reporters pretending to talk to them), and a bright star that keeps messing up the lighting.

Through chaotic but sincere reporting, the news team slowly uncovers the truth:
A Savior has been born, the angels have appeared to shepherds, and the world has changed forever.

THEME

The birth of Jesus is good news worth sharing—even in the most unexpected ways.

WHO

  • ANCHOR 1 – serious, dramatic voice, always trying to look polished

  • ANCHOR 2 – cheerful, easily distracted, loves dramatic reactions

  • REPORTER NAZARETH – on the streets of Nazareth

  • REPORTER BETHLEHEM – outside the stable, slightly overwhelmed

  • STAR REPORTER – astronomer/reporter fascinated by the bright star

  • SHEPHERD 1 & SHEPHERD 2 – honest, confused, lovable

  • INNKEEPER – stressed, loud, frantic

  • ANIMALS (optional actors or puppet props) – cow, sheep, donkey

  • EXTRA ANGEL or VILLAGER (optional)

HOW

Use three simple “zones” on stage:

  1. News desk (anchors)

  2. Field zones (Nazareth, Bethlehem stable, hill country with shepherds)

  3. Star zone (reporter under bright “star” lamp)

Switch between zones with spotlight cues or music stingers. Encourage energetic acting, exaggerated reactions, and playful comedic timing.
