Summary
A youth group tries to focus on a Bible lesson, but “internet-style ads” start interrupting them in real life. These pop-up ads aren’t on a phone, they’re actors who literally jump into conversations with flashy promises: instant popularity, shortcut happiness, and success-before-faith. The students get distracted, frustrated, and oddly tempted, because the ads sound familiar… like thoughts they already hear in their heads.
The turning point comes when the youth leader introduces a “real-life ad blocker”: the truth of God’s Word. As the students speak Scripture out loud, the ads begin to glitch, crumble, and disappear. The skit ends with the group realizing they can’t control every message they see, but they can choose what shapes their hearts, and God’s Word always wins against the noise.
Theme
God’s Word exposes lies and protects your heart from distractions.
Characters
(5-7 actors)
• Leader/Narrator – youth leader guiding the lesson and the “ad blocker” moment
• Zoe – student who wants to focus but keeps getting distracted
• Caleb – student who jokes through everything, then gets real
• Maya – student who struggles with comparison and insecurity
• Ad: Popularity Pop-Up – flashy, loud, “everybody will love you”
• Ad: Shortcut Happiness – smooth, “skip the process”
• Ad: Success Over Faith – intense, “achievement is everything”
When
Modern day (youth group night)
Props & Costumes
• Bible(s)
• 3 large “ad signs” (POPULARITY, SHORTCUT HAPPINESS, SUCCESS)
• Sound effect option: phone “ding,” glitch noises, “skip ad” countdown card
• Tape measure or cardboard “progress bar” (comedic)
• Optional: sunglasses, sparkly jacket, briefcase for ads
Why
Romans 12:2 — Don’t be conformed; be transformed by renewing your mind.
Ephesians 6:17 — The sword of the Spirit is the Word of God.
Meaning: God’s Word is truth that breaks lies and reshapes thinking.
How
Set as a youth room with chairs. Ads burst in like pop-ups, circling students, blocking their view, and “covering” the leader like an overlay.
Time
10–12 minutes
