Santa’s Job Interview
Length: 10 Minutes | Cast: 5 Actors | Genre: Comedy with Heart
Theme: Finding Joy in Serving Others

Summary

In this lively and fast-paced 10-minute Christmas skit, the North Pole faces a crisis after Santa Claus unexpectedly announces his retirement. Chaos erupts as two hardworking elves scramble to find a replacement before Christmas Eve. Their search turns into a hilarious parade of interviews—featuring a candy-cane-obsessed candidate, a phone-addicted applicant who can’t look up long enough to hear a question, and a sleepy contender who believes napping is his spiritual gift.

As the interviews grow more frantic, the elves begin to doubt they’ll ever find someone who understands what the role truly requires. Then, in a surprising twist, the humble janitor steps forward—quiet, sincere, and driven by a desire to bring joy and share the love of Christ. His simple heart reveals what the others missed: serving others is the real job description of Santa.

With humor, unexpected twists, and heartfelt moments, this skit invites audiences to rethink what it means to lead, love, and serve during the Christmas season.

Perfect for children’s ministry, youth services, or family Christmas programs, this play blends quick comedy with a clear message: true joy is found in serving others.

Cast of Characters

Elf 1 – Detail-oriented, easily stressed, and determined to run the Santa interviews “by the book.” Wants everything to go perfectly but often gets overwhelmed.

Elf 2 – Quick-thinking, energetic, and a little sarcastic. Balances Elf 1’s anxiety with humor but secretly worries about Christmas falling apart without Santa.

Candy Cane Lady – Excited, eccentric, and utterly obsessed with peppermint. Genuinely sweet but only understands one tiny part of Christmas.

Phone Guy – Distracted, tech-dependent applicant who sees becoming Santa as an opportunity for trending content and viral sleigh selfies.

Janitor – Humble, kind, and sincere. Works behind the scenes at the North Pole and has a servant’s heart. Ultimately shows what true Christmas service looks like.

Nap Guy (Optional Role) – Sleepy and soft-spoken interviewee who thinks the job perks include unlimited naps.
