A director begins auditions for a traditional Christmas play, only to be surprised when Santa Claus arrives, determined to land a “dramatic” role. After centuries of delivering gifts, Santa wants a change and enthusiastically auditions for Joseph, a wise man, the narrator, and even baby Jesus—lying on a blanket and confidently insisting he can “play younger.” Each attempt becomes increasingly outrageous and entertaining.

Santa’s performances grow funnier with exaggerated emotion, wild gestures, and spontaneous improv that feels like an Eddie Murphy parody. He even breaks into a TikTok-style dance to “show his versatility,” leaving the director and cast speechless. Meanwhile, other actors struggle to audition as Santa constantly interrupts with unsolicited advice, dramatic commentary, and loudly whispered (and incorrect) lines—especially when one nervous actor keeps losing their place as the angel.

Eventually, the director gently reminds Santa that the biblical Christmas story doesn’t need new heroes or flashy auditions. Santa humbly accepts a smaller part, handing out candy canes to the audience and delivering the final humorous yet meaningful line: “Turns out the greatest gift is letting the real story take center stage.”

• Narrator – Calm, witty, keeps the story moving and explains the heart behind the chaos; can ad-lib friendly comments to the audience.

• Director – Slightly stressed but kind; loves the Bible story and tries to keep things on track; delivers the main spiritual lesson.

• Santa Claus – Big personality, dramatic, improv-heavy; tries multiple roles with exaggerated emotion but eventually shows a tender side.

• Actor 1 – Auditions for the angel; easily distracted and thrown off by Santa’s “help.”

• Actor 2 – Flexible actor who fills in as Mary, Wise Man, etc.; reacts with good comedic timing.

• Caleb – Optional small role (tech/stagehand or offstage voice) who suggests Santa’s final job.
