A youth group sits in a discussion circle, and the leader asks simple spiritual questions: “How’s your Bible reading?” “Who do you need to forgive?” “What’s one way you can serve?” Strangely, every answer starts the same way: “Last week I meant to…” or “Next week I’m going to…” The room becomes a comedy loop—one teen planned to read the Bible last week but got “attacked by notifications,” another promises to forgive someone next week “after they feel sorry enough,” and someone keeps saying they’ll join prayer “soon,” like prayer is a streaming service they’re waiting to subscribe to.
The leader starts writing everyone’s responses on a whiteboard, and it fills up fast with “last week” regrets and “next week” promises. The laughter grows, but so does the realization that a lot of spiritual growth gets postponed. Then a quiet student speaks up with a question that changes the room: “What if faith only works today?” The leader reads a short passage of Scripture aloud, explaining that obedience doesn’t happen in the past or future, it happens now. The skit ends with a clear devotional moment and a practical challenge: stop living between last week and next week, and take one step of faith today.
