Description

Summary

Youth Sunday is here, and a youth leader has an exciting plan: a simple “serve step” where each student takes one step forward to join what God is doing in the church. The stage shows a clear line of students, ready to participate, at least in theory. The leader explains that serving isn’t about being perfect; it’s about being present. Everyone nods… until it’s time to actually step forward.

One by one, the students step out of line, not to serve, but to deliver increasingly ridiculous excuses. What starts as “I’m stressed with school” becomes “I need to review the church’s privacy policy” and “I’m waiting for a clearer sign from God, preferably in neon.” A confident teen announces she’s “not ready yet,” while another promises to help “next year,” as if God runs on an annual subscription. The skit humorously reveals how excuses keep us stuck in place, and it ends with a simple reminder: obedience often looks like a small step forward.
