Overview

Breaking News from Bethlehem is an imaginative, comedic, and deeply heartwarming Christmas play that blends ancient Scripture with a modern live-news broadcast. Across Parts 1–5, the Good News Network (GNN) rushes to Bethlehem to “get the story straight,” sending eager reporters, confused anchors, and overwhelmed producers into the heart of the Nativity story.

What starts as a frantic news chase quickly becomes a global awakening as reporters, shepherds, wise men, and ordinary townspeople discover that the most important headline in history isn’t political, scientific, or economic — it’s a baby in a manger.

Filled with humor, touching interviews, angelic “breaking news,” and worshipful carols, this play is both highly entertaining and profoundly meaningful for audiences of all ages.

Part-by-Part Breakdown

PART 1 — “Breaking: Something in the Sky”

The GNN studio receives strange reports of a new star over Bethlehem. Reporters Casey and Riley arrive on the scene, interview Mary and Joseph, confront an overworked innkeeper, and set the stage for a world-changing night.

PART 2 — “Live: Angels, Shepherds & a Stable”

Angels appear to shepherds, delivering the ultimate “Good News” announcement. Back at the studio, anchors struggle to keep up as wise men join the broadcast by remote feed. The stable becomes the center of an unfolding miracle.

PART 3 — “From Broadcast to Bethlehem”

The wise men arrive at the manger. The news team slowly shifts from reporting the story to becoming a part of it. The cast joins in worship, blending Scripture, carols, and comedic newsroom moments into a living nativity.

PART 4 — “Special Report: The Story Spreads”

One year later, GNN returns to Bethlehem. Interviews with Mary, Joseph, and the shepherds show how the birth of Christ has already changed lives. The story expands across lands and generations, reaching new hearts through ordinary people.

PART 5 — “The Good News Goes Global”

The newsroom broadcasts a worldwide Christmas special. Reports from around the world show that the message of Jesus has moved far beyond Bethlehem. Anchors, reporters, wise men, shepherds, and modern-day believers join in declaring the eternal headline: “The Savior has come — and the Good News is for everyone.”
