A Merry Christmas Phone Call

This simple Christmas skit follows Grandma Ruth as she calls her grandkids on Christmas Eve just before church. Each child answers from a different part of the house, busy with gifts, videos, and holiday chaos.

Through one warm and gentle phone call, Grandma listens, laughs at their silly moments, and then lovingly guides them back to the true story of Christmas—Jesus’ birth, the journey of Mary and Joseph, and the hope He brings to a hurting world.

By the end, the kids gather in the living room around a small, improvised nativity scene. Together with Grandma on speaker, they remember the good news of Jesus and sing a simple Christmas carol.

Characters

(3–6 actors)

• Grandma Ruth – Warm, wise, and gentle; loves Jesus and her grandkids.

• Maya – Oldest grandchild; responsible, a bit stressed, trying to manage everything.

• CJ – Middle child; energetic, loves presents and games.

• Lila – Youngest; easily excited, loves Santa videos and fun.

• Dad – Caring but busy; trying to get everyone ready for church.

(Extra Kid(s) can be added to increase noise and fun.)

When

Modern day, Christmas Eve, just before the family goes to church.

Props & Costumes

All optional and very simple:

• Phone (real or toy)

• Couch or chairs for the living room

• A few empty gift boxes or bags

• Wrapping paper and tape (optional)

• Simple casual clothes or Christmas sweaters
