Summary
This Christmas skit retells the birth of Jesus through the eyes of a small, gentle lamb who travels with a group of shepherds. As the lamb watches the night sky, listens to the shepherds’ worries, and then sees the angels’ announcement, it begins to realize that even the smallest and quietest ones are seen and loved by God.
Older children serve as narrators and shepherds, while younger children can act as lambs and sheep, following simple motions like walking, looking up at the “star,” and kneeling at the manger. The skit gently teaches that Jesus, the Lamb of God, came for everyone—even those who feel unnoticed or small.

Why
The key verse for this skit is:
“Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; He is Christ, the Lord.” (Luke 2:11)
This verse reminds us that Jesus is the promised Savior—born not in a palace but in a manger, and given “to you.” The skit shows that His birth is good news for everyone: shepherds, lambs, children, and all who feel small or forgotten.
How
The stage can have two main areas:
-
Shepherds’ field: A simple open space with a “campfire” and places for shepherds and lambs to sit or stand.
-
Stable/manger area: On the opposite side, a small manger with straw and a simple backdrop suggesting a stable.
Lights can dim during the night scenes and brighten slightly when the angel appears and when the group arrives at the manger. Movements stay slow and simple so younger children can follow.
