A Christmas Carol Rehearsal Gone Wrong
Description
A lighthearted Christmas comedy about imperfect singers and a perfect Savior.
“A Christmas Carol Rehearsal Gone Wrong” is a 20-minute Christmas comedy skit for 5 actors that follows a church choir trying (and failing) to rehearse their Christmas carol medley. One singer keeps forgetting the lyrics, another confidently sings the wrong verse, and a dramatic choir member can’t stop adding over-the-top hand motions from some other show entirely.
What starts as a chaotic, slightly disastrous rehearsal slowly turns into a heartfelt reminder that God isn’t looking for flawless performances—He’s looking for honest worship. As the characters laugh, argue, and finally pray together, they discover that singing from the heart is what truly honors the Lord.
Perfect for choir Sundays, youth-led services, or Christmas programs, this skit:
-
Features 5 speaking roles (with room to add extra “choir members”)
-
Runs about 20 minutes
-
Requires minimal props and simple staging (piano/keyboard and music binders)
-
Blends relatable church humor with a clear Christ-centered message
-
Ends with an optional moment where the congregation joins in singing a carol
A Christmas Carol Rehearsal Gone Wrong
An Original Christmas Comedy for Choirs and Youth Groups
(Approx. 20 minutes)
Cast of Characters (5 actors)
-
CHOIR DIRECTOR (CAROL) – Earnest, slightly frazzled, wants everything “just right” for the Christmas service. Loves Jesus and schedules.
-
SINGER 1 (LUCY) – Sweet and enthusiastic but constantly forgets her lyrics. Over-apologizes.
-
SINGER 2 (MAX) – Confident, loud, and always convinced he’s right… even when he’s singing the wrong verse.
-
SINGER 3 (TESSA) – Dramatic and theatrical. Adds big Broadway-style gestures and interpretive movements to every carol.
-
PIANIST / NARRATOR (JORDAN) – Plays the accompanist and occasionally breaks the fourth wall to narrate what’s happening. Calm, observant, gently funny.
(You can easily add a few silent “extra choir members” as non-speaking roles if desired.)
Setting
A church sanctuary or fellowship hall.
Front of stage: a few music stands, simple choir risers or a row of chairs.
Side: a keyboard or piano for JORDAN.
Scattered binders/sheet music, water bottles, maybe a mic stand.
Time: One evening a week or two before the Christmas service, during a chaotic choir rehearsal.
